Solitaire Engagement Rings

Solitaire Engagement Rings

Solitaire is perhaps the most popular style of Engagement Ring. Three Stone Engagement Rings and Multi Stone Engagement Rings are the other popular styles.

Solitaire engagement rings are designed to showcase a single diamond and the design typically aims to maximise the light getting into the diamond. This is important, because along with the cut of the diamond, this determines just how enchantingly it sparkles!

Why Diamond Cut Is Important

Diamond Cut refers to how well the diamond itself has been crafted. The better the cut, the more sparkle and fire you will see in your diamond. The diagram below shows light travelling through a well cut diamond, and a poorly cut diamond. An 'Excellent' cut diamond, in the 'Ideal' diagram below, has a great refraction of light, therefore enabling the diamond to sparkle more. A 'Good' or 'Poor' cut of diamond, as shown in the 'Shallow' and 'Deep' diagrams below, leaks out light so losing the brilliance of the diamond.
