Diamond Engagement Rings - To Suit Personality

Diamond Solitaire Engagement Rings - Choose the right style

Diamond engagement rings come in a vast range of styles and choosing the right one can be a bewildering experience. Starting by considering your partner's personality and lifestyle is a good idea. Is she slightly reserved or confident and outgoing? Is she very sporty or undertakes regular activities where solitaire engagement rings may interfere or even be damaged?

Engagement Rings for The More Reserved or Sporty Types

Traditional solitaire engagement rings or 3-stone engagement rings with a low setting and clean design may suit slightly reserved personality types and sporty girls. I actually fall into this category myself, being a bit on the shy-side but very sporty. I decided upon a classic solitaire design with a high-grade diamond (to maximise sparkle) that I could admire and show to friends, but not too big that it would interfere with my sports and activities. Nothing harder than putting on snowboarding gloves with a massive rock sticking out! Some engagement rings that may suit this type of personality are displayed below.

More outgoing and confident women may prefer more intricately designed engagement rings or diamonds of exotic shapes and larger carat sizes. Former Korn guitarist Rob Patterson proposed to Carmen Electra in Las Vegas with a huge black diamond engagement ring set in white diamonds, which just seems to suit her non-traditional personality.

Stephen Moyer got it right when he chose a vintage style diamond engagement ring for his True-Blood co-star Anna Paquin. It suits Anna's style and is not too flashy. The couple met when auditioning for the True-Blood series, in which Moyer stars as vampire Bill Compton and Paquin as telepath Sookie Stackhouse and on-screen love interest. When asked about his inspiration for choosing the ring Stephen replied "It's gothic, and interesting, and not the normal". Just what you'd expect from a vampire!

Some engagement rings that may suit more outgoing personality types are shown below. If unsure on what style to choose, you could get some ideas on engagement rings she will like by studying the jewellery she already has. Does she have mainly unfussy clear-cut pieces, or lots of fancy and elaborately decorated pieces?
